It offers a four-year undergraduate degree programme, as well as postgraduate studies leading to master’s and doctoral degrees.

We offer 5 Master’s programmes, in:

  • Journalism and New Media

  • Politics in the era of the Internet

  • Cultural and Cinema studies

  • Digital Communication Media and Interaction Environments (MSc)

The Department has a long tradition in international and national academic events, conferences and workshops . across communication and media studies.

Located in the centre of Athens, the Faculty employs more than 40 members of academic staff, including professors, tenured teaching staff, and associates from other academic institutions and media organisations. It has also developed strong international links with European universities through the Socrates and Erasmus student and staff exchange programmes.

Teaching and Learning

Our undergraduate programme is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of the principal theories, debates, and developments in communication and media studies, while allowing them to explore particular fields and issues in greater depth.

The interdisciplinary composition of the academic staff reflects the character of the curriculum. Teaching and research draw on theories, perspectives, and methodologies from sociology, psychology, education, political science, anthropology, the philosophy of science, history, media studies, media production, computer science, cultural studies, and critical legal theory.

The Faculty is equally committed to the practical study of media and to research-led teaching. Students are encouraged to engage critically with different approaches to communication and media across a variety of academic and professional contexts. They are also given opportunities to develop their research, analytical, and presentation skills, as well as to explore creative possibilities across a wide range of media.

Our graduates have gone on to pursue advanced academic study and successful careers in a broad range of fields. They are employed in public institutions, private organisations, media and cultural industries, journalism, advertising, public relations, communication, and research.

We invite you to explore our programmes, research activities, and academic community, and we look forward to welcoming you to the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies.
